How to use the score keeper

Pick the rules

In Match settings, choose what happens at 40–40, the match length (best of three, one set or FAST4) and which pair serves first.

Tap the pair that won the point

Each half of the scoreboard is one big button. Deuce, games, sets and tie-breaks move on by themselves, and the ball shows who serves. Wrong pair? Undo.

Show it to everyone

TV mode fills the screen, for a tablet on the bench or the club TV. The score is saved after every point, so a locked phone or a closed tab loses nothing.

How padel scoring works, in one minute

Padel uses tennis scoring. Points go 0, 15, 30, 40, game. A pair wins a set by reaching six games with a two-game lead (6–4, or 7–5 after 5–5). At 6–6 a tie-break is played: first to 7 points, two clear, and the set goes down as 7–6. Most matches are best of three sets, and many leagues replace the third set with a super tie-break to 10. The full walk-through is in our padel scoring guide, and the tie-break details are in the padel tie-break explained.

The only part that changes from club to club is what happens at 40–40. That is the first setting in the score keeper, and the one to agree on before the first serve.

Golden point, advantage or Star Point?

  • Golden point (punto de oro): at 40–40 the next point wins the game. The receiving pair chooses whether to receive from the right or the left, and the two receivers can’t swap positions to do it. It keeps games short and courts on schedule, which is why most social and club padel uses it. More in golden point in padel.
  • Advantage: the traditional rule. From deuce a pair must win two points in a row, so a game can go on for as long as the rally does. Pick it for a match where nobody is waiting for the court.
  • Star Point: the FIP rule from 2026. Advantage is played at most twice; if the game reaches deuce a third time, one decisive point is played and the receivers choose the side. The scoreboard counts it for you: deuce 1, advantage 1, deuce 2, advantage 2, then the Star Point. See the Star Point explained.

Not sure? Golden point is the safe choice for a friendly or an evening session; advantage if you have the court all afternoon; Star Point if you want to play the way the pros do in 2026.

Who serves, and when to change ends

The serve passes in a fixed order: a player from one pair, then a player from the other, then their partners (A1, B1, A2, B2). The ball marks the serving pair, with the side to serve from. At the start of each set a pair may change which partner serves first: tap the arrows by its name before the first point. In a tie-break each player serves two points after the first, and the pair that received first serves first in the next set. More in our padel serve guide.

Pairs change ends after every odd game of a set and every six points in a tie-break; the score keeper reminds you.

Keep the score courtside, without the argument

The point of a scoreboard is that nobody has to remember. One phone on the bench, one tap per point, and the whole court can see whether it’s 30–40 or deuce and who serves next. Short on court time? FAST4, the LTA’s short format, is built in: sets to four games, a tie-break at 3–3, golden point and a super tie-break at one set all.

Score it on Apple Watch

On court, a phone is one more thing to put down and pick up. PorTres, our iPhone app, puts the score keeper on Apple Watch: tap your wrist to give the point, see the score and the server at a glance, and keep playing. Save the match and it lands on your iPhone. On Americano nights the app also runs the rounds and adds up the leaderboard.

Frequently asked questions

How do you keep score in padel?

Points go 0, 15, 30, 40, game. At 40–40 the agreed deuce rule decides the game: advantage, golden point or Star Point. Six games with a two-game lead win a set, there is a tie-break at 6–6, and most matches are best of three sets.

Is this padel score keeper free?

Yes. The online score keeper is free, needs no account and runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server: the match is saved on this device until you start a new one.

Can I show the padel score on a TV or tablet?

Yes. Tap TV mode for a full-screen scoreboard with huge numbers. Open the page on a tablet, or on a laptop connected to the TV, and score with a tap or with the left and right arrow keys.

What happens at 40–40 with golden point?

The next point wins the game. The receiving pair chooses whether to receive from the right or the left, and the receivers can’t swap positions to do it.

What is a super tie-break in padel?

A tie-break to 10 points, two clear, played instead of a third set when the sets are one all. Leagues and tournaments use it to keep matches on time.

Does the score keeper work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. It makes no network calls, so a weak signal at the club won’t lose the score, and the match is saved in this browser after every point.

Can I keep the padel score on Apple Watch?

Yes, with the PorTres app for iPhone and Apple Watch. You give each point from your wrist, with golden point, Star Point or advantage, and save the match to your iPhone.
